When does Unitel send me a bill?

Calls are billed monthly by direct mail or by email, depending on your specifications during sign-up.

Who is the underlying carrier for Unitel?

Customers are provisioned to Global Crossing (Frontier) /ALN 0444, or Qwest Communications /LGT 0432.

What does Unitel charge for toll free calls originating from a payphone?

If you have toll free (inbound) service, and someone calls your number from a payphone, there is a 65¢ surcharge.

What does Unitel charge for local long distance?

There is no separate rate for local long distance service (intraLATA). These calls are billed at your in-state rate.

What are Unitel's PICC and USF fees?

The FCC imposed PICC fee is $0/line Residential; $3.75/line Commercial. The FCC imposed USF (Universal Service Fund) of 10.7% will be charged on all interstate and international calls.

What are the Unitel billing options?

Unitel is a direct-billed service, which means customers will receive a separate statement each month for their service. You may also arrange to pay for your service automatically each month by credit card or direct checking withdrawal.

What are the billing increments?

The lengths of your calls depend on your rate plan eligibility. Most likely, your calls will be measured (and billed) in 6 second increments. The minimum length of each call is 18 seconds. Billing increments are defined during signup.

How will I know if I'm switched to Unitel?

Just call (toll free) 1-700-555-4141 and it should indicate that Qwest Communications is the carrier. If you have signed up a Non-RBOC area, Global Crossing will be the carrier.

Does Unitel offer calling cards?

Yes. The rate is currently 14¢ per minute for domestic calls. International rates vary. A 65¢ surcharge will apply to any calls you make from a payphone.

How long should provisioning take?

Please allow 10 days for the switch-over to take effect. Do not change your long distance with your local phone company unless specifically instructed to do so.

Does Unitel offer Account Codes (PACs)?

Yes. They offer both verified and nonverified Product Account Codes (PACs). Use this form to order these.

Is there a monthly fee?

Accounts that fall below $20.00 current usage in a given month will be charged a $2.99 Minimum Monthly Service Fee.
This fee is waived if you have chosen the Paperless billing option.

Is there a fee to disconnect?

There will not be a disconnect fee unless the service is shut off due to non payment. The fee is $25.
